Founded in 2002, CHIX, SWINE & BOVINE Bbq. is the proud winner of the 2008 Virginia State Championship at the Que & Cruz held in Louisa, Virginia. We are members of the Kansas City Barbecue Society and the Mid Atlantic Barbecue Association. Team members Mike Richter, Barbara Driscoll, and Chris Owen are certified KCBS Judges. The rest of the team consists of Paul Sobwick, Josh Halbedel, Jenn Anderson, Michelle Anderson, Bill Oiler, Glen Ray, Mike Stone, and the Honorable John Douglas Caulfield. Just a crazy group of friends from Columbia, Maryland and across the country who like to Q.
After getting mentored by the Honorable John Douglas Caulfield in the ways of the smoke, we started cooking at various neighborhood parties. Then, after positive feedback and encouragement from our friends, we decided to take it to the next level. In 2008 we won our first Grand Championship and realized our goal of receiving an invitation to the American Royal in Kansas City, MO. We were also fortunate enough to receive an invitation to the Jack Daniel's World Championship in Lynchburg, TN. We were thrilled to receive multiple calls at both contests!
We had a successful year in in 2009 KCBS contests finishing 18th in the country in Brisket, 25th in Ribs, 66th in Pork, 138 in Chicken, and 82 Overall. One of the fun awards was winning the Nation's Best Beef contest in Washington DC.
We are proud to serve some of the best BBQ in the Baltimore / Washington DC area and are available to cater your next event. A variety of menu choices include, but are not limited to: Ribs, Chicken, Pulled Pork, Brisket, Pit Beef, Pit Turkey, Pit Ham, and a wide variety of side dishes, appetizers, and desserts.
